LOST Theories Part 2 of 2

Now that I’ve let some thoughts settle down, I thought now is the time to post my second theory concerning the show LOST. After tomorrow nights show, however, everything may change.

My second theory has to do with a more plausible story line. Here goes:

Several thousands of years ago, a large mass of dark matter crashes into a tiny island somewhere on our tiny planet. The resulting impact triggers an eruption of a dormant volcano that covers the dark matter. Years go by. Trees and vegetation cover and break up the hardened lava.

Eventually, man reaches the island. He was able to reach the island because the dark matter was contained and had no influence on the outside world. The “natives” built a society and eventually uncovered the dark matter. Over the years they learned the secrets of the dark matter.

1800s. A ship known as the black rock is blown off coarse by a hurricane and because of the vast amounts of metal equipment for mining, was pulled into the island by the strong magnet that was one of the properties of the dark matter. The natives befriend the crew/slaves of the black rock. Since the ship is beyond repair, they start living their lives and the natives, feeling more secure of their privacy, start to teach them what they’ve learned.

Eventually one, from the black rock leaves the island. Old fears of other people being brought to the island surface. The natives, having taught the Black Rock people a lot about the dark matter (but not everything), took their secret and moved the island from what was probably the Pacific ocean west to the coast of Africa (in the Atlantic Ocean).

Over time, the natives and the remnants of the Black Rock become one group of people and live a quiet life…..until one day a plane crashes. Fearing they have been discovered, they move the island yet again (and somewhere a statue crashes into the ocean).

Years later, a massive group of people (Dharma Initiative) arrive on the island and begin massive construction projects. Having been cut off from the mechanism that moved the island and not sure how to get the new arrivals off the island, they decide to hide.
During the intervening years, Dharma discovered the secrets of moving the island to keep Widmore away. They also discovered the secret to time travel.

In order to keep the time doorway open, they had to charge and inject the energy into the time stream every 108 minutes or risk a cascading time collapse incidence. This happened only once. After the first “incident” a better way was found to do this under the stress of “saving the world”.

With the crash of the scientific team, Dharma needed to protect itself, so it launched the Cerebus security system full time. Four years go by. Rumors persist of a survivor of the scientist hiding out in the forest. She is befriended, but her child taken for experiments to see how a child survived birth on the island since Dharma was trying to conceive for years.

Meanwhile a young love was budding for a young girl named Annie by a Dharma commoner named Ben Linus. To bad for him. Even though they were good friends, Annie was in love with some else. This infuriated Ben to the point he decided to help his new friends and destroy Annie and Dharma at the same time and so he agreed (after protesting earlier) to gas everyone to death. Side note: Adam and Eve were Annie and her lover not Desmond and Penny as speculated my your’s truly 2 years ago.

Finally, twelve years after “The Purge”, a plane hits the distortion bubble caused by the dark matter and the time doorway that was beginning to collapse. Thus begins the story of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.

LOST Theories part 1 of 2

Okay, so I have a couple of theories about LOST I would like to explore.

First is the possibility that they are all in a computer generated world similar to the worlds of TRON, The Thirteenth Floor, Vanilla Sky, Total Recall.  Did I forget any?  I know there were three previous TV shows that are similar that could have taken place in a computer, but were hazy in that they never revealed one way or the other wht the truth was.  Those three shows are: The Prisoner, Nowhere Man, and more recently: Life on Mars (BBC show being remade in USA)

With this type scenario, the smoky monster would be the antiviral application scanning people for possible removal.  The echos would be people in the room monitoring Flt815 and commenting.  Their audible voices could seep through into their reality and that’s how they perceive them.  The purpose of the virtual reality would be to allow the people with issues to work them out harmlessly and then once they “work out” their problems they are brought of the computer world. From the person waking up it’s just that.  From the perspective on the remaining people, it would look like they were killed.  Only issue I have with this scenario is that it could mentally screw up the people staying behind giving them more issues to work out.

I’ll have to post my second theory next blog entry.

Finding US Airforce Friends

I know it’s been a while since my last post.  Been moderately busy since March,  but not so much that I couldn’t have posted.  I know 50 lashes with a wet noodle!  Computer was down for a little bit of that time. My 19in CTX monitor gave a last gasp  and quit on me. Went through 2 other monitors until Jim from work was kind enough to give me an extra he had lying around.   It’s not the best in the world, and I have to look away often to keep from getting eye strain, but I’m thankful (beats nothing) and some day we’ll be able to get something nicer.  I’m going to look into fixing the CTX myself.  I used to work for a company called Resource One in Grovecity for about 3 months and they taught me how to repair the NAPA dumb terminals which is basically a CRT with a network card and keyboard.  Hopefully I will be able to fix it, give Jim back his CRT, and delay the need to purchase a new monitor. Although the 22in LCD widescreens are looking pretty sweet right now, but I digress.

The job hunt is going slowly. We were hoping I would already be in Cincinnati by now and Carrie finalizing moving. Then when school let out for summer, the three of them would be coming down.  <BIG SIGH> That apparently didn’t happen, so we are re-evaluating our goals. We know if/when it’s right, God will move us.

No change on the status of the Infiniti G20.  Still sitting in the parking lot. Hasn’t started in 1 year 2 months now. The thing will finally be paid off around the beginning of next year when the garnishment will be done.  We should also have the Monte Carlo paid for by then and will start looking for suitable transportation for me.

We are starting to do more outdoor activities since the weather broke a few weeks back.  We found a local lake that is part of the “Three Creeks Park” metro park. While Carrie was at Nationwide Arena volunteering for the “Women of Faith 2008 Conference”, I took Mark and Mary for a little afternoon fun.  They had behaved so well for me in the morning, I wanted something fun for them to do.  We started the morning with waking up and taking Carrie to the Arena. Then we proceeded to McDonald’s for a good breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon.  Went home for awhile, then about 1pm headed to Arby’s for lunch.  After lunch went to Carrie’s work to drop off they paper recycling. We are trying to make the last Saturday of the month drop off day.  Then after that we went to the park.

While at the park, we walked the whole perimeter of the lake. We stopped briefly on the far side to sit on the grass and watch people fishing.  Mark was concerned they weren’t going to catch anything because of the shark in the water.  Took a while to explain there was no shark in the water and everything would be okay.

When we returned to the car area, we notice a guy flying a kite so went over watched him for awhile. He did pretty good.   Our day ended when the conference did and had to go pick Carrie up.

I’ve been wanting to do more grilling, but silly me left the gas on and it was depleted next time I went to start it.  I had just filled the tank like a week prior.

To finish post up, I want to say hello to some long lost Airforce buddies of mine Anton L. Petersen and David Taiz.  Hey guys!  I’m so excited about finding them after all these years.  I found David last month and Anton just a couple of days ago.  More on them to follow in later posts (if they don’t mind).

I also found Neil White, but he hasn’t returned my email to confirm it was him.  He lives in Arkansas, and they just had some recent tornadoes so I’ll try again in a month or so.  He works for Fedex down there so won’t be too hard to locate.  I hope it’s him and we can catch up as well.

People I’m still looking for if anyone out there knows where they are or how they are doing:

Jason Cook -> Sugarland, Tx -> RAF Woodbridge 1989
Rita Koch ->  Fort Collins, Co. -> University 1993
Paul Duke -> Oregon -> Keesler, AFB 1987
Jeffrey Elward -> New York/Pennsylvania -> Keesler, AFB 1987

Again, guys, it would be great to reconnect.
